Tencil Talks: Ellie Salicetti

Ellie Salicetti is the Learning & Development Manager EMEA at Integral Ad Science.

Integral Ad Science is a global technology company that offers data and solutions to establish a safer, more effective advertising ecosystem. They partner with advertisers and publishers to protect their investments, capture consumer attention, and drive business impact.

Today we caught with her on all things digital.

Q. Talk us through your career success to date?

ES: I started my career at OMD as an assistant digital strategist in New York City. It gave me good insight into agency buying strategies and an in-depth look into digital advertising. After one year, I went to Integral Ad Science where I have been now for over five years. I began as a Client Services Manager and then transferred over to the London office.

Q. How has the move to the UK helped with your career development?

ES: Since the move, I worked my way up to Senior Client Services Manager and then made a move over to Learning and Development.

Q. How does the UK market compare to your time in the US?

ES: The working culture is very different. In New York City, I would work 9:30AM to 6:30PM and then again from 9PM to 11:30PM. This was the absolute norm in order to stay on top of everything. Clients never stop emailing, so the only way to keep up is to work late. In London, I found a lot more work-life balance. Clients didn’t email late and I was able to maintain regular working hours which was a welcome change.

Q. What excites you about digital marketing?

ES: I love the way it’s always evolving. With technology advances, there’s never a boring day.

Q. What would you like to see change in digital marketing?

ES: I would like to see more quality transparency in the industry. The Internet is a mysterious place. The more we know about the inventory the better.

Q. Do you think enough material exists to educate young adults about digital marketing?

ES: I definitely think there needs to be more. Even though I got a degree in Marketing and Advertising Communications, I learned ad tech on the job. Tencil is a great place to start 😉

Q. What is your favourite lunchtime spot and why?

ES: Nando’s! One of the reasons I moved to the United Kingdom!

Finally, we would like to thank Ellie for taking time out of her busy schedule to talk with us today.
